Description

The history: that's the first thing you become curious about when you see this exceptional apartment. It is part of Slot Ter Hooge. Its history goes back to the thirteenth century. This makes it one of the oldest castles in Walcheren. However, the current appearance of the castle dates back to the eighteenth century.

Knights, lords and nobles
Slot Ter Hooge was inhabited by wealthy families, knights, lords, nobles and prominent VOC members. The current castle was renovated and expanded in the mid-eighteenth century. It served as a home, country retreat, war quarters and rest home.

Well maintained national monument
The castle was split into four apartments in 1985 and is in an excellent state of repair. A foundation manages the surrounding estate of approximately 60 hectares. As a resident you do not have to worry about this and you can fully enjoy the apartment and the rich surroundings.

Entrez!
Because it is fun at Ter Hooge. Just from the sight of the castle as soon as you walk up to it across the forecourt. Via the impressive landing you enter the photogenic room that you as a resident can use for your own meetings.

What a view
A staircase leads to the apartment in the right wing of the castle. In the hall, the curved window wall with stained glass immediately catches the eye. The windows offer a view over the beautifully landscaped forecourt and the landscape beyond. A landscape where deer can be seen regularly at dusk.

Grandeur
The living room, once a library, offers the same view, plus a view of the castle itself. Thanks to the high ceilings and large windows, it feels spacious and breathes the grandeur you can expect from a castle. Due to its southern location, a lot of sunlight enters, which makes this room and the adjoining kitchen extra comfortable.

Only one thing counts here
In the large bedroom at the rear of the apartment with its adjoining luxury bathroom, and the extra rooms on the floor above, it is nice and cool and only one thing really counts: the view over the pond and the beautiful landscape behind it.

Even a garden in the middle of the natural beauty
You would think that the mature nature is also centuries old, but it was only planted after the inundation of 1944 and the reclamation in 1947. Due to the fertile soil, it has become a fantastic nature reserve in a relatively short time. At the front of the apartment, about 50 meters into the woods, as a resident of this apartment you have access to a private garden in this natural beauty, based on a user agreement with the owner of the land. It is a lovely sunny spot with a wide view.

Be sure to check out the basement as well
Furthermore, the apartment offers two more rooms separated by en-suite doors. There is storage space throughout; in addition to numerous fitted wardrobes, there are two storage rooms, a communal attic and a large private cellar suitable for wine storage. Be sure to take a look at it during the viewing. In the basement, the original castle walls are still visible and long corridors run under the castle.

Be sure to go out too!
You can go to the pleasant center of Middelburg, which is nearby, to the beautiful Zeeland coast, which can be reached within twenty minutes by bike, or to cities in Zeeland and Belgium where there is plenty of culinary and cultural enjoyment. In short: enjoy the good life in and from this apartment..
