About the area

The coastal town of Torre del Mar has a relaxed retro charm to it. Developed throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s it’s a great option for sun-seekers but without the tacky tourism some coastal places adopt.

Torre del Mar has the best seaside promenade we’ve seen to date on the Costa del Sol. It is 3 km long, a long and beautiful promenade where you can walk, jog or ride a bike (there’s a dedicated bike path). There are restaurants and bars where you can drink and watch the world go by. There are children’s playgrounds for the kids.

The beach is wide and has all the facilities (including the cleanest bathrooms we’ve ever seen on a beach). There are areas with palm trees where people lie in the grass with their dogs.

The views of the mountains down the coast are spectacular.

Torre del Mar is very popular with Spanish tourists in the summer. It also has an Expat population although they don’t make up as large of a percentage as they do in some other seaside towns. The advantages: the beaches, affordability (compared to most towns in costa del sol for example), and the largest hospital in the region.

However, its interest goes beyond these, as it offers a great cultural wealth.

Among the must-see places in Torre del Mar are the Castle of Torre del Mar and the Sugar Museum, inaugurated in 2014. It also offers many leisure and entertainment options, making it a perfect place to visit at any time of the year, especially during the summer months when you can enjoy the enviable weather.

The beach town of Torre del Mar has a lovely beach, which invites you to swim in its waters and walk along its sandy beach. It is an urban beach with dark sand, 2 kilometres long and with moderate waves. It also has all the services you could need and enjoys different quality certifications.
